Careers

Work that is worth doing, with people who do it well.

We work on research, policy, and communications that shape decisions at the highest levels. We are looking for people who take that seriously.

Working at NADAKAI

What we look for.

Our clients include some of the most rigorous research institutions, policy organizations, and international development bodies in the world. They send us their most important publications. The standard we hold ourselves to reflects that.

We are a small, growing team. Everyone here works directly with clients and directly on documents — there is no layer of account management between the editorial work and the people doing it. If you are looking for a role where you can see the direct impact of your work, this is it.

We value precision, good judgment, and the ability to hold a client's voice while still making the work better. We do not value performative busyness or editorial habits borrowed from contexts that do not apply here.

Open Positions

Three roles, currently open.

Senior Editor — Research & Policy

Singapore Full-time Editorial

We are looking for a senior editor to join our Singapore office and take primary responsibility for a portfolio of research institution and policy organization clients across the Asia-Pacific region. This is a hands-on editorial role — you will be the lead editor on complex, high-stakes publications and the main point of contact for your client accounts.

What the role involves

  • Lead structural, line, and copy editing on research reports, policy briefs, working papers, and white papers for institutional clients
  • Manage client relationships from initial scope through to final delivery, including written quotes and scope agreements
  • Advise clients on document structure, argument clarity, and audience alignment — not just surface-level correction
  • Maintain and apply client-specific style guides with precision across all deliverables
  • Contribute to internal editorial standards and onboarding of future team members

What we are looking for

  • At least five years of editorial experience working with non-fiction, research, or policy publications
  • Demonstrable ability to work at all levels — from structural logic to comma placement — and to know when each is appropriate
  • Strong command of Chicago Manual of Style; familiarity with APA and house style systems an advantage
  • Experience working with non-native English writers and organisations in international development, governance, or research preferred
  • Based in Singapore or willing to relocate; right to work in Singapore required

What we offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Direct exposure to high-profile research and policy publications
  • Small team environment with genuine editorial responsibility from day one
  • Flexibility in working hours outside core client-facing windows

Editorial Project Coordinator

Singapore Full-time Operations

As NADAKAI grows, we need someone to keep client engagements running with the precision our editorial work demands. This is an operational and coordination role that sits at the centre of our Singapore office — managing project timelines, client communications, and the administrative side of editorial engagements so that our editors can focus entirely on the work.

What the role involves

  • Manage incoming enquiries and coordinate the scoping and quotation process with senior editors
  • Track active project timelines and flag risks to delivery before they become problems
  • Maintain client files, style guide records, and engagement documentation with accuracy
  • Coordinate with freelance editors and external contributors when projects require additional capacity
  • Support invoicing, scheduling, and the administrative infrastructure of a growing professional services firm

What we are looking for

  • Two or more years of experience in project coordination, editorial operations, or professional services administration
  • Exceptional written English and attention to detail — you will be representing NADAKAI in client communications
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to manage competing priorities in a small team
  • An interest in research, publishing, or policy communications is a strong advantage
  • Based in Singapore; right to work required

What we offer

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • A clear path into more senior operational and account management responsibilities
  • Close working relationship with experienced editorial professionals in a growing firm

Freelance Editor — International Development & Governance

Remote Freelance Editorial

We are building our roster of specialist freelance editors with deep subject-matter familiarity in international development, governance, public finance, or related fields. This is not a generalist editing role — we are looking for editors who understand the specific conventions, audiences, and institutional languages of the sectors we serve, and who can apply editorial judgment accordingly.

Freelance engagements are project-based, with volume depending on the pipeline. We work with editors who are reliable, precise, and easy to communicate with. In return, we offer prompt payment, clear briefs, and the kind of work that is genuinely interesting.

What the role involves

  • Copyediting, line editing, and proofreading of research reports, policy briefs, donor reports, and related publications
  • Application of client house styles and NADAKAI editorial standards with precision
  • Clear communication on scope, timeline, and any editorial queries — without requiring hand-holding
  • Availability for periodic projects on relatively short notice (typically one to two weeks)

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrable experience editing research or policy publications in international development, governance, public health, or adjacent fields
  • Native or near-native English; Chicago style proficiency required
  • A track record of reliable delivery and clear professional communication
  • Location-agnostic — we work with editors globally, provided time zone overlap is workable

What we offer

  • Competitive per-word or per-project rates, paid within 14 days of delivery
  • Well-organized briefs and style materials — we do not expect you to guess
  • Ongoing relationship for editors who are a good fit, with increasing volume over time

Send your CV, a short note on your subject-matter background, and one or two samples of your editing work to careers@nadakai.com with the subject line Freelance Editor — International Development.
